Privacy Policy for Shutterstock AI Agent
Last Updated: January 25, 2026
1. Introduction
Shutterstock AI Agent ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome Extension designed to automate the metadata submission process for Shutterstock contributors. We prioritize your privacy and have designed the extension to operate locally on your device to the maximum extent possible.
2. Data Collection and Usage
- API Keys: The extension requires you to provide your own Google Gemini API Key. This key is stored exclusively in your browser's local secure storage (
chrome.storage.local or chrome.storage.sync) and is used solely to make direct requests to Google's Generative AI API from your browser. We (the developers) do not have access to your API key.
- Image Data: When you run the agent, image thumbnails and metadata from your Shutterstock contributor page are temporarily read by the extension to generate prompts for the AI. This data is sent directly to Google's Gemini API for analysis and is not stored or sent to any other third-party servers.
- User Settings: We store your preferences (e.g., selected AI model, prompt templates, batch delay settings) locally in your browser to improve your user experience.
3. Third-Party Services
- Google Gemini AI: We use Google's Gemini API to generate titles, descriptions, and keywords. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle data sent to their APIs.
- Shutterstock: The extension interacts directly with the Shutterstock Contributor interface to autofill forms. We act as an automation layer on top of your existing Shutterstock session. We do not access your login credentials or financial information.
- ExtensionPay: We use ExtensionPay to manage free trials and premium subscriptions. ExtensionPay may collect payment info (handled via Stripe) and account status. We do not see or store your credit card details. Please refer to ExtensionPay's Privacy Policy.
4. Data Storage and Security
All sensitive data, including your API key and settings, resides locally on your machine. We use standard browser security practices (Content Security Policy, Local Storage) to ensure this data remains sandboxed within your browser instance.
5. Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access: You can view all stored settings directly in the extension's "Settings" tab.
- Deletion: You can remove all stored data (API keys, preferences) by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension's storage in Chrome settings.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or services. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the extension's release notes.
